We came here to have a very small vow renewal ceremony. Location was suggested by a local wedding planner/officiant. It was much breezier than I expected and a few of the decor items blew away. But i did appreciate it being very remote and only a few other people were there when went on. Friday around sunset. We did almost steps on a few small crabs as we were leaving.
Don't come here it's horrible.........
A ton of fun for the kids and the parents. So many things to look at and learn about. Wasn't busy at all and had a very different look than the folly field beach we stayed at and played at. We definitely want to plan a full day at least to find something really unique.
I loved how much wild life was there, but if your looking for sharks teeth or shells... we didn't find ANY teeth and all the pretty shells had hermits in them... (if rather see them that way anyway) the sand is very mushy at low tide... I sunk to my knees however I read reviews before hand and knew what I was getting into... I went again at high tide (the difference was amazing... how far the water goes in and out is crazy) but at high tide I was able to walk out in the water with no problems. The waves aren't strong, so in a way it would be good for children but make sure to go at high tide.
Did they leave? okay cool. yeah, it's awesome, but don't tell anyone. No one comes here and it's the best "quiet" spot on the island. The tide goes WAY out and there's thousands of little crabs and wildlife to see. Lots of Egrets and other birds.
Took a walk to sandier hook of the area and did find three shark teeth in about 30 minutes. Lots of other things to explore and plenty of fiddler crabs in the reeds.
Beach is secluded with not a lot of people there. At low tide it is an extremely long walk to get to water and even then it's ankle deep. We were there four hours prior to low tide and the deepest any adult got was thigh deep. Parking is free and we did not have trouble finding a spot.
Kids really enjoyed the area but this is not a beach for surfers as there is no waves. Also the sand is not white and flat. If your looking for something quiet and not to swim but rather wade this is worth it.
